Art Final Questions

  1. Identify two works from this school year that you find to be the most successful examples of your creative development. Include image, title, and project for each.

2. Explain, using art vocabulary relevant to the project, why these works stand out to you. Also, articulate the development each work illustrates (ie the craft, formal and/or conceptual qualities that you honed in the making of the works).
Two works from this school year are Lemon-Lime in the Defy Ms. Seal project and Vineyard in the future tense project. I feel this work has been my best because I love using studio-lighting and felt that this picture really exemplifies my artistic values. For the Future Tense project I feel that this picture summarized how well I was able to capture my theme of lighting. These two pictures, I feel, really narrated my photography skills.

3. Identify your least successful work. What did you learn from the experience of making the work? What would you do differently knowing what you know now?

I felt my least successful work was the Kill your darlings Fibonacci project because I didn't really grasp the concept, and my pictures did not come out as strong as other projects. I learned to stick with what is my stronghold, and I would've taken advantage of better lighting in those situations.

4. What skills do you consider to be your greatest strengths?

I think my greatest strengths as a photographer are using digital photography over film photography. When I use digital photography I do a better job of having texture and use good lighting in all of my pictures. The composition in my photos are also stronger when I use digital cameras over film cameras.

5. Evaluate your overall effort in this class. (In what ways did you give it your all? Where could you have improved?

I felt that I used my time wisely in most of the classes. However, I could've improved on coming prepared more days, so I could've finished projects earlier. For the most part I did use class time to its full potential.

6. What are you most excited about pursuing in future artistic endeavors?

I'm excited about using all the things I learned in Photoshop to my advantage. In times of having to make a poster or do a particular project I would be able to use the things I learned in Photography to help me. I plan to definitely use my knowledge in all aspects of Photography.

7. How might skills you've developed in this class impact your learning and process beyond the art studio?

I feel I could really use the things I learned in Photography to benefit my future works in other classes. Having this experience has really taught me the values of taking good pictures with good composition and texture.
